Spotted: Canadian Tuxedo at Melrose Trading Post

The flea market may have been a little slow today, but the double denim was all over. We spotted NINE Canadian Tuxedos within five minutes of being there, including this gem comprised of a Ralph Lauren denim jacket with an MG logo and Albam jeans (yes, this guy was a Brit).

More double denim at The Dime!

This time inside the insanely packed LA hotspot – it was off the chain last night. Here is the lovely Laylah Akbar shaking it in a Guess jacket, jeans brand unknown and Chuck Taylor’s.

Spotted: Canadian Tuxedo at The Dime in Los Angeles

Last night outside of DJ Michelle Pesce‘s birthday party at The Dime, I spotted Gerald Gaunty in a G-Star shirt, Ralph Lauren chinos and John Varvatos shoes. If you’re in Los Angeles, you have to hit The Dime on Thursdays and see Hollywood’s hottest DJ do her thing. Does not disappoint.

Kevin Jonas rocks a Canadian Tuxedo

Those Jonas Brothers sure love their denim. Kevin was seen last month at The Vote pre-grammy party in a Canadian Tuxedo.

Double Double Denim in West Hollywood

20120301-205551.jpg

It all comes full circle. I started this blog as a celebration of the double denim look, often condemned as a fashion faux pas. The first original image I ever posted was of this baby draped in denim, whom I spotted in the elevator at Target in West Hollywood. Fast forward 10 months, and who do I meet? A couple of guys, both with Levi’s, one of whom is a correspondent for denim blog powerhouse Denimology (!!!), in the very same elevator, rocking Canadian Tuxedos.

On the left is Thomas Rossi, Jr., in Levi’s Made for Craft jeans and Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1955 Sawtooth shirt. To the right is Darrrell Nobrega in a Levi’s Type 1 Trucker jacket and 520 taper jeans.

Thanks, guys! You made my week!

Another Canadian Tuxedo at Coffee Commissary

20120229-194214.jpg

Another hour, another Canadian Tux at Coffee Commissary – a.k.a. Land of Denim. If you think I’m joking, I saw SIX Canadian Tuxedos in less than 2 hours there yesterday. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Rheese Detrow, drummer in the band Dendelo, which just completed a new, yet-to-be-named album of raw/aggressive rock. Rheese is such a sweetheart; trying to imagine aggressive coming from him … I digress.

Anyway, Rheese is seen here in a vintage flannel-lined Levi’s jacket and LA-based Schaeffer’s Garment Hotel 15 oz. Japanese Denim jeans.

More double denim at The Spare Room

Here is Bill “Smitty” Smith, drummer in the band Truth &  Salvage Co., rocking out in a Canadian Tuxedo (Gap jacket and Levi’s jeans) at The Spare Room in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Truth & Salvage can be seen at the Troubadour on March 24 at their farewell show before they relocate the band to Nashville. With indie denim powerhouse Imogene + Willie putting out some of the best double denim looks, we think Smitty will feel right at home.

Rihanna in Armani Denim Jumpsuit in Weho!

Rihanna was seen (again) in double denim, this time leaving lesbian night club The Palms in West Hollywood last week. She’s seen here in a denim jumpsuit designed by her for Armani. Rihanna’s developing into quite the hot mess these days, isn’t she?

Spotted: Ashley Tisdale in a Canadian Tuxedo

The Tis was seen sporting some red Daisy Dukes and a denim jacket yesterday in Toluca Lake..

Spotted: Brad Goreski in a Canadian Tuxedo, or two

20120124-142842.jpg

I’m taking this as a sign that we will be friends one day. My dream best gay, Brad Goreski, was rocking denim-on-denim in last night’s episode of It’s a Brad, Brad World not once, but twice! These aren’t the first Canadian Tuxedos I have spotted this season. Did anyone else notice that guy in double denim skipping across the street in NYC last week? Hilar.

Later, in Alabama, Brad puts together a Canadian Tuxedo by pairing an acid-washed trench coat and light hickory striped denim overalls.

Even the General Store owner was in a Canadian Tuxedo.
