I love chambray shirts for many reasons, but most of all, I love pairing and mixing them with different colors and textures of denim. Believe me; it wasn’t always so.
After the denim overload of the 90’s (I know I wasn’t the only middle schooler who owned a denim scrunchie), I rode the backlash into one-denim-at-a-time land. I eschewed denim on anything but jeans and cringed when I’d see farmers wearing head-to-toe denim, overalls and all. Living in rural Minnesota, this was a common enough sight.
The reinvented chambray shirts of last spring breathed new life into a classic that previously felt more Marlboro than Madison Avenue. Chambray is easy to wear, comfortable, and endlessly versatile. Paper-thin boyfriend styles like the one I’m wearing keep the trend feminine and unfussy.

On Tuesday night I had the pleasure of meeting another Columbus ex-pat at Footsie’s in Los Angeles. I’ve written several items about how much people from Columbus, Ohio love their Canadian Tuxedos (one fan has even proposed we change the name to “Columbuxedo“). So, it was no surprise, when multi-instrumentalist Brad Caulkins strolled in rocking the double denim. Brad is seen above in a vintage Big E Levi’s jacket, a family heirloom from the early 50s which once belonged to his cousin, who died wearing it in motorcycle accident. Brad’s also wearing A.P.C. jeans.

When we think of Glenn Beck, many things come to mind – fashion not being one of them, but here were are, posting again about Glenn and denim. Last time we wrote about Mr. Beck, he was slamming Levi’s for their moving “Go Forth” ad campaign. The conservative blowhard vowed to never wear his once-favorite denim brand again. Say what you will about the man, he’s kept his word and launched his own line 1791 Supply & Co., which is 100 percent manufactured in the United States and will run you about $130 a pair … offered in – of course: Classic and Straight.
