I always love running into my adorable neighbor, Calvin Radsick, when I’m taking my dog out for a quick spin. I was especially elated to see him in some denim on denim today. Calvin is pictured above in a Volcom denim finish hoodie and Sliq jeans From H&M. His dog, Izzi, is rocking an electric pink hoodie from American Apparel that I kind of want to steal.
I’m not sure whom to thank for getting me into denim, but my dad is definitely responsible for my recent obsession with timepieces. Regardless, the combination has me adding the new Hublot “Jeans” Collection to my fantasy wish list.
“An accessory that has remained on trend since its creation, jeans are still an essential fashion item. Chic, rock’n’roll, sexy, boho, vintage, urban, authentic, tie-dye… denim is whatever you want it to be, and an enduring wardrobe staple for men and women alike,” says Hublot.
We all know Rihanna is no stranger to the Canadian Tuxedo, but this double denim ensemble has us questioning her taste in style almost as much as we do her taste in men. RiRi was seen rocking denim over denim at her Rihanna for River Island at London Fashion Week. Gross.
Walking home from Starbucks last Sunday, I spotted this lovely lady working the double denim. Pictured above is Julia in a denim top she picked up at Nordstrom, a Brandy Melville tee and jeans by Abercrombie & Fitch. You can catch Julia’s musings on her tumblr account here.
As my dear friend Kevin Cothren, senior merchandiser Express Women’s Denim, loves to say, TYRA MAIL!
I caught this vintage pic of the America’s Next Top Model glamazon draped in denim on the Huffington Post yesterday. Kinda wishing she was giving us some of her “smizing” fierceness.
Just got back from an Oscar Viewing Party where I ran into my girl, Kristen Tischhauser, also rocking a Canadian Tuxedo. I was able to woo her into a photo with my mad mandolin skills. Kristen is seen on the left in Aquilina jeans, a Vena Cava jacket that I had to work hard not to steal, Levi’s flannel shirt and Rag & Bone boots. I’m jamming away in 7 For All Mankind jeans, vintage Gap jacket, Zara top and Marni Mary Jane’s. A big thanks to Seth Iliff for hosting.
While shopping around my neighborhood on Sunday, I happened upon Black Jew Kid rocking this dope double denim ensemble in front of the newly opened Melody Ehsani Boutique (amazing). Black Jew Kid is seen here in a Levi’s denim jacket that he’s currently updating with some Dolce & Gabbana embellishments, and Play Cloths jeans.
The other night at Venice’s new hotspot Barnyard, I ran into pal Jamison Monroe, Jr., CEO and founder of Newport Academy, who excitedly showed off this photo of Jessie Hines and him at work one day, celebrating denim on denim back at the office. Who could blame him?
According to Jamison, “After a bit of a debate about whether denim was going to be an acceptable form of attire for the entire staff, denim won out and the next day we made it [Canadian Tuxedo] Day at Newport Academy.” Love it.
Jamison is pictured above in a Levi’s Vintage1955 Sawtooth Washed-Denim Shirt (I want to steal it) and Won Hundred jeans.
