Just caught wind of this one … While this is a place to support and embrace the denim-worshipping community, sometimes bad ones make headlines and we have to call it out. Katy Perry walked the red carpet at tonight’s MTV VMAs in this number. We love Katy, despite some questionable wardrobe choices (tonight being the most recent), but seriously … was this a joke? Was she not Wide Awake when she got dressed? Was it a throwback to the ever-mocked Britney/JT denim disaster, or are they trying to top it? If it’s the latter, we may have a winner. Regardless of fashion sense – or lack thereof – we love Katy and the message she sends out to young women and little girls. She’s a firework, and we’re forever grateful.

Spotted: Brooklyn Decker in a Canadian Tuxedo
The model/actress/fellow Ohioan/Andy Roddick’s better half was spotted draped in denim while shooting scenes for something in LA. I just may have to tune into her new show Grace & Frankie to see if this look makes a cameo.
Ryan Adams Rocks the Newport Folk Festival in a Canadian Tuxedo
Thank you, NPR, which posted this photo of singer/songwriter Ryan Adams doing his thing at last weekend’s Newport Folk Festival. As you can imagine, this folk fest was littered with many amazing double denim looks – it’s kind of their uniform. See more on the Newport Folk Festival’s Facebook page: guaranteed to cure any case of the Mondays …. so much denim.

Coming Soon … Denim Wayfarers from Ray Ban
If you’ve been watching Ray Ban lately, you’ve noticed a slew of new materials being used on their always classic frames (I just picked up the best tortoise aviators, kind of obsessed). So it’s no surprise to see even edgier ones being put out as part of their somewhat bizarre Order Of Never Hide secret society campaign, in which fans must take challenges to elevate their position on the Order grid.
Sound confusing? It’s not. And it’s likely a good way to waste some time on a Friday afternoon at the office. Each challenge is represented by a pair of shades: Blend Like Camo, Smooth As Velvet, Tough As Leather, Tough As Titanium and Rugged As Denim. Sadly for me, but happily for my wallet, the denim is the only one yet to be released. We’re still waiting on the release date, but will announce when we get it.

Double Denim at Dean Wareham at the Roxy
Before the opening band for Dean Wareham went on at the Roxy last Thursday night, I spotted this Canadian Tux in the crowd. The gent, who preferred to remain nameless, was rocking Wrangler jeans (don’t see those enough) and a Levi’s jacket, complete with a perfectly styled mullet, for which this photo does not do justice.
And if Dean comes to a town near you, do yourself a favor and check him out.
Spotted: Canadian Tuxedos in “Overboard”
I get so wrapped up in Joanna Stayton’s glitz and glam that I sometimes forget about Annie Proffitt’s more down-to-earth style, including this triple-denim Canadian Tuxedo. And of the many Kurt Russell rocks throughout the movie, this sleeveless number is my fave.
p.s. Dean sleeps in his jeans.
